To talk about Spiritual Health... is to talk about one's approach to life.

One's spirituality is the way they give meaning to their lives. Many approaches are quite destructive, and the news media regularly report on the ill effects of the poor spirituality of our age, as evidenced by the rampant drug abuse and alcoholism, two poor attempts to stop the pain of living apart from God's Love and presence. Some other symptoms of this societal malaise are the enormous divorce rates, the road rage episodes, and the high crime rate, most of which is done to support the drug culture.

My spirituality is based on 3 scriptural points: John's statement in his 1st Letter, "God is Love." To have this approach is to begin a sound spirituality for one's self. The "Love" John referred to is Agape', the decision-type of Love which Jesus demonstrated on the the cross and we can use in our lives or not, as we choose.

The second point of my approach to spirituality is taken from Paul's letters, "Jesus Christ is Lord," not power, security, or acclaim. The single-minded search for any of these detracts from the only authentic Lordship, which is Jesus'.

The third point is from Jesus' statements 5 times in the Gospels, when he said to various people who had come for healing, "You may go, your faith has made you whole," or "...well," or "...healed you." For this is the faith that has given me what health I have, which is a lot more than before I discovered it. Miraculous healings occur, I've seen them, experienced them, prayed for them far more times than they have happened, but I have seen them, which becomes part of my faith as well.
